The first pony car, the Ford Mustang started a new realm of American automotive industry, sparking the production of stylish and sporty cars which remain compact and affordable.
In 1965 the Ford Mustang was considered a "compact" car in the US. While the Mini of the 60s is about half the size, the Mustang was still shorter than many US cars of the era.
The Mustang legend still thrives today, with the 2004 Mustang re-igniting the classic pony car image that the modern Camaro and Challenger have since replicated.
