History

Team Hunter Racing (THR) was founded in 2002 by Matt Hunter. Initially fielding a single Shelby GT500 for team owner, Matt Hunter had a steady opening GT series, spending most of it getting to grips with the development process as well as managing the series as a whole. In 2009, TORA president Matt Hunter wanted to change his teams fortunes by joining forces with front running team, Austins Motorsport.

Duncan Ray, Dan Austins and Ash Sutton would form the 'Austins THR' squad with Matt Hunter, Jamie Wynder and Jamie Anderson forming the second team under the new SMRC banner. After a tense and highly competitive championship, Dan Austins was crowned champion for ATR at Silverstone, as well as the team winning its championship too. 

The team split once again into two seperate teams for 2010. This saw a limited program for THR in the GT Championship with a Tequila Patron backed Ferrari F430. A strong showing at the season finale at Silverstone was the only highlight in a frustrating season in all the teams categories. THR debuted the Lola Aston Martin for the 2010 Le Mans Series and a great start to the year at Sebring showed signs of potential however, a fragile car frustrated the team as it dropped behind its rivals. On the other side, Austins Motorsport took the GT4 championship. 

The team took a massive step back for 2011, choosing to run cars in limited events rather than full season campaigns. The efforts behind the scenes are being put towards 2012 with all new championship assaults and a revival of the tie in with the Austins Motorsport team once more. Perhaps 2012 will be their year to shine.
